Default Whats with all the bad mouthing of PUGs?

I dunno, maybe Ive been lucky, but reading many posts on this forum concerning pick up groups and the actual playing with those groups and I see a rather striking dispairty between the two. PUG's arn't horendous as some seem to constantly bitch about. In my experince their courtious and helpful. And more often then not if theres a drop the guy will whisper me later appoligizing for getting kicked(err=7).

Again, maybe I've just been lucky in this aspect of the game.

It really depends on the class that you play and if you're talking about PvP or PvE. As a monk I found PUGs in PvE to work out extremely well, because I was confident in my abilites to heal. Playing verses a computer you can have more screwups and still win the mission.
PUGs in PvP are a completely different story and I generally do my best to stay away from them. Just too many people out there doing tombs that don't have a clue what they're doing.

lol, my friends always say i'm not allowed to lead parties, because I breing henchies first. It's not that I hate PUGs, it's just that i'd rather run with a few guildies/friends and henchies than with a bunch of people I don't know.
I do still partake in many PUGs, though.

Well for me i found that I have good luck with pugs in missions but bad luck when trying to do quests. A Lot of people just DO NOT listen. Like yesterday i was in amnoon oasis trying to find a group to do one of the paths quests so i can get the 2nd 15 pt attribue quest and joined this pug. It was the worst one i had ever joined we all died about 5 times right out side the oasis because NO ONE would listen and ran off to of course get mugged by hordes of jade scarbes and then the rest of us died cause there where to many things for the casters to handle.

Mostly my PUGs (PvE) have all been quite good.

I've had the odd bit where a group splits up and I can't heal them all, and there's been a fair bit of rushing and I can't keep up with the healing spamming, but generally everyone's been polite

Never experienced any in-game insulting, either at me or between anyone else in the groups.

Guess I've been lucky...

I've had some bad experiences with PUGs, but they mostly work out well enough. Gotta learn to ignore penises constantly being drawn on the compass map, though. I don't offend easily, and this doesn't even come close to offending me, the problem is it also just doesn't come close to being funny, especially after the 1451467134614125677th one you've seen. Well, one guy actually drew one bending around a corner to point out the direction we were supposed to go. That was mildly amusing...once. Give it a rest already guys! I would be all in favor of having the compass somehow tell us who's drawing and/or pinging on it.

I almost exclusively play with PUGs and I've only really encountered like 3 bad eggs, and those we just booted once we failed the mission. So, no real complaints from me.

Well, you gotta get your friends from somewhere, right? PUGs are the best way to do that. Find some decent players once in a while, add 'em to your list, maybe go out and kill things together again some other time. But I just use Henchies and be done with it.

And I've never experienced that penis problem, to be honest (nor any other, before you say anything ). Most of the time it's just people randomly scribbling on it as though they had no idea it was there before, and had never used MS Paint before...
